As a Joanne Langione Dance Center alumna herself, Emily Goldstein knows all too well the magic of this incredible community! During her time at JLDC, Emily trained in numerous styles, including ballet, contemporary, Hip Hop, jazz, lyrical, modern, pointe, and tap. Through JLDC’s unique opportunities, she has attended the New York City Dance Alliance convention, Un.Convention, and many competitions.Emily discovered her passion for mentorship, leadership, and working with children through her six years as an assistant teacher and student demonstrator, learning from JLDC faculty, and applying that knowledge and experience, now, as a lead teacher. She has worked within the Full Day SummerDance program for many years, transitioning from student, to assistant, to faculty member.

In May 2024, Emily graduated from the University of Miami, with a B.S.Ed. in Community and Applied Psychological Studies and a minor in Dance where she not only took advanced classes, but also courses in teaching, history, and dance movement therapy. During her undergraduate years, dance remained a critical part of Emily’s life, through her participation in a student-run club dance team, Miami Motion. Emily served as both Public Relations Officer and Vice President, and choreographed several routines for the group’s end-of-year showcases. Emily is currently pursuing her master’s in Human Development and Education on a School Counseling Licensure Pathway at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. During her studies, she hopes to further explore the importance of dance as a therapeutic means of expression for young people, particularly the intersection between arts and mental health. Emily also serves as a presenter in NAMI’s Ending the Silence for Youth programs, advocating tools to normalize mental health dialogue among children and adolescents.

Throughout both her academic and dance journey, Emily has recognized and appreciated this art form as a way to express oneself and build community. She attributes JLDC in developing and empowering her to build many life skills that she now implements into her everyday affairs, and is excited to continue that cycle for the next generation of dancers. Emily is passionate about instilling a love for dance, movement, and creativity in children and is honored to be a part of the JLDC mission.
