The year started off strong with our 24th annual Winter Concert and 7th annual Hip Hop Show!

From sparkling costumes to heartfelt performances, our dancers showcased their talent and hard work. The Winter Concert title, Be Moved, Be Loved, Be You reminded us all of the beauty of dance and the sense of togetherness it fosters in our community. JLDC’s annual Hip Hop Show brought the house down! Dancers showcased their creativity, individuality, and powerful energy, making this one of our most memorable performances to date. It was incredible to see the talent and enthusiasm of our community shine so brightly.

2024 marked the exciting launch of theDANCELAB program and significant enhancements to our Acrodance offerings. theDANCELAB, an individualized training program, provides dancers with personalized coaching to refine performance technique, build strength, and achieve new goals. Through tailored feedback and focused sessions, students work closely with our expert faculty to accelerate their growth and unlock their full potential.

In addition, our teachers earned advanced certifications from Acrobatic Arts over the summer, bringing back innovative techniques and best practices to share with our students. These enhancements include upgraded equipment, refined progressions, and creative skill development strategies. As a result, our dancers are building stronger foundations, improving flexibility, and mastering new tricks, taking their Acrodance skills to impressive new heights.

3. Dance Prodigy, Sophia Lucia Shares her Knowledge

Guinness World Record holder and dance prodigy Sophia Lucia teaching at JLDC UnConvention.

JLDC was proud to host both Un.Convention Winter and Summer in 2024. Guinness World Record holder and dance prodigy Sophia Lucia joined us from Los Angeles for both events, sharing her expertise and working one-on-one with students to improve their technique. She was joined by renowned choreographers and industry professionals for our annual master class intensives, where dancers of all levels learn, grow, and connect.

As part of JLDC’s in-class enrichment, we welcomed the Northeastern Dance Team for a cheer dance workshop and a discussion on college dance opportunities with our Tween dancers. We were also thrilled to welcome back Sandy Duncan, a dance educator and life coach with 40 years of experience, for her “Empowering Improv” project. Through dance, Sandy focused on building confidence, positive friendships, and teamwork for our middle and high school dancers.

These experiences inspired our students to broaden their perspective on dance and strive for new goals in their artistry.
